<p>For those with an interest in Number One Deansgate, its name is its location, situated at the top of Deansgate near the Manchester Cathedral and next door to Harvey Nichols.</p>
<p>This 60 m high building is home to 84 apartments on 14 floors including 8 duplex and triplex penthouse apartments. When it was constructed in 2002 it was (and may still be) the tallest all-steel residential building in the United Kingdom.</p>
<p>Four of the Penthouses were sold in 2002 for £1.5 million each &#8211; the most expensive apartments in Manchester at the time.</p>
<p>No. 1 was designed by Ian Simpson Architects, with engineers Martin Stockley Associates. Simpson&#8217;s designs now dominate either end of Deansgate, with No. 1 and the equally imposing Beetham Tower forming glass bookends at either end of the thoroughfare.</p>
