A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ACCOUNTS CLERK

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ACCOUNTS CLERK

We asked our very own Accounts Manager, Vilta Paulauskaite, to tell us a little bit about what it’s like working in our accounts department. Having gone through the career ladder of TG Accounts, she is the best person to tell you what you can expect!

“Working in the accounts department is certainly varied and very interesting.

The day in the accounts team could vary from receiving a payment from a Tenant and forwarding it to the Landlord, to acting as a witness in the court hearing on behalf of the Landlord and requesting for the possession order from the Judge due to Tenant’s rental arrears, which might lead to the Bailiffs’ appointment and Tenant’s eviction with the assistance of the police!

Our job is to make sure payments to Landlords, Contractors or Tenants are processed in the timely manner, as well as the responsibility for internal book keeping in all aspects of the day to day running of the accounts department.

For those of you that are Tenants, we will make sure your rent invoices are set up correctly on the system and the payment is securely sent to the Landlord without delay. We will ensure any overpayment or required refund is proceeded to you in the timely manner. We will assist you if you have any issues making a rent payment and liaise with your Landlord accordingly on your behalf.

For those of you that are Landlords, we will do everything possible to ensure your rent payments are received on time and sent to you accordingly. If you inform us that you live overseas, we will ensure that correct Non Resident Landlord Tax is sent to HMRC on your behalf. Should the rent fall into arrears we will take further action in order to collect the payment or /and take back possession of your property should no amicable agreement be reached between yourself and the Tenant.

Working in the accounts department, you are the last link in the property management chain, and any queries relating to the payments you have processed will also come to you. This allows you to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge of all aspects of the property management procedures and the relevant Laws, as you will be involved from the day the Tenant moves in to the date the possession of the property is taken back.”
